How we decide which games make the cut

April 8, 2026 · Marta Kowalczyk

People assume we have a spreadsheet and a system. We have a group chat and a lot of arguing. Every week each of us installs a handful of things that caught our eye and reports back on whether they survived the first sitting.

The first filter is simple: does it feel good in the hand? A clever idea buried under clumsy controls rarely gets past round one. Mobile is a physical medium, and if my thumb hates it, no amount of good writing saves it.

After that we look for a reason to care. Maybe it does something odd with the touchscreen, maybe the pacing is unusually kind, maybe it's just charming in a way we can't shake. If two of us keep opening a game unprompted, that's usually the sign.

We deliberately spread across genres. It would be easy to become a puzzle site, since those are everywhere, but some of our favourite finds have been racers and tiny RPGs. Variety keeps the writing honest.
