About

Pocket Detour started as a group chat where a few friends kept swapping screenshots of odd little games nobody else was covering. At some point the recommendations got too good to keep private, so we turned the chat into a proper site with reviews, longer articles, and a growing catalogue.

We focus on independent and lesser-known mobile titles across all genres, not just puzzles. If a game does something interesting with a touchscreen, we want to write about it. Big studios already have loud megaphones; we prefer digging through the corners of the stores.

Every game we cover is one we actually install and play, usually for several sessions across a few days. We take notes on pacing, battery drain, how the controls feel with one thumb on the bus, and whether the game respects your time. Then we write it up plainly.

Nothing here is sponsored. If we like a game we say so, and if it wears thin after twenty minutes we say that too.

Marta Kowalczyk — Marta has been reviewing mobile games since the era of chunky styluses and refuses to let a game off easy just because it looks cute. She handles most of the catalogue writing and edits everything else.
