Hollow Lantern

Hollow Lantern is a hand-drawn adventure that trusts you to pay attention. You wander a foggy coastal town, poke at objects, and slowly piece together why the lighthouse keeps flickering. The puzzles are logical rather than obtuse, so you rarely get stuck for the wrong reasons.

Atmosphere is the whole point here. The art is gorgeous in a sombre way, the ambient sound does a lot of heavy lifting, and the story unfolds in fragments that stuck with us after we finished. It's a two-evening game, and that's exactly the right length.

Tap targets are generous and there's a gentle hint system, so it never becomes a pixel-hunting chore.
